Introduction
Kaplan SQE Limited (Kaplan SQE) has been appointed by the Solicitors Regulation Authority Limited (“SRA”) as the sole provider of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (‘the Assessment”) and is registered with the Education Skills Funding Agency as the End Point Assessment Organisation (“EPAO)”.
We are committed to ensuring fair access for all candidates, to the services we provide in delivering the Assessment, please read our Fair Access Policy for further information.
This accessibility statement applies to the website https://sqe.sra.org.uk (SQE).
We want as many people as possible to be able to use our website and we have therefore worked to ensure that it is compliant with the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 Level AA. We keep the site under review to improve both its accessibility and useability.
We have built our website to be accessible with common assistive technologies and different ways of using websites. When using this website you should be able to:
Navigate the website using a keyboard
Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
Use the site with a screen reader (including the most versions of JAWS and NVDA)
Change browser colours, contrast levels and fonts
Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
We also use plain English principles to make our content clear and easy to understand.
Where a candidate is not able to use the SQE Candidate Account (online registration and booking process, including to make an application for reasonable adjustments and for submitting supporting evidence), we can offer alternative means of communication and provide information in different formats. Candidates requiring further assistance should contact us at enquiries@sqe.sra.org.uk and our team members will work with candidates to find the best way to help.
You can read our Reasonable Adjustment policy for further information.
How accessible is the website
We recognise that not everything on our website will be accessible in accordance with our agreed standards. This will usually be due to legacy content (content uploaded prior to 28 June 2025) and we are working on ensuring that any legacy content that is vital to the services that we provide is updated in order to be compliant with those standards.
Kaplan SQE Limited will work to provide solutions where we have identified parts of the website which are not fully accessible. Below are some of the other ways in which our content may not be compliant:
Visual headings - Headings for selecting grades in Hotjar are not clearly identified to screen readers and could be confusing.
State information - Selecting assessment date and time is not programmatically available making selection via screen readers confusing.
There are 3rd party integration and application technologies which are accessible but there may be elements which Kaplan SQE is unable to control and update. The 3rd party platforms are:
PearsonVue for concluding booking of seats for SQE1 and SQE2 Written.
Yoti for identification verification.
Hotjar for feedback on user experience of the Kaplan SQE website
Any new content that is published centrally will meet our accessibility standards and the vast majority of the content on our website is compliant with the European Accessibility Act and WCAG version 2.2 Level AA.
Accessibility is not a state, it is a process of continuous improvement in response to our users and the wider technical environment and we are regularly monitoring our website in order to maintain their continued compliance.
Reporting accessibility problems with our website
We are always looking to improve the accessibility of our website. If you find any problems not listed on this page, or think we're not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact Candidate Services.
Enforcement procedure
If you are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility request or believe that we are not meeting the requirements of the European Accessibility Act, you have the right to escalate your concern.
You may contact the relevant national authority or enforcement body in your country, which is responsible for monitoring compliance with accessibility obligations under the European Accessibility Act.
