Appeals

If you believe your assessment result or a decision made by the Assessment Board is incorrect or unfair, you can submit an appeal.

Appeals must be made on one or more of the following grounds:

  • Undisclosed mitigating circumstances that could not have been presented before the Assessment Board made its decision
  • Material irregularity in how the decision was made, or if the decision was manifestly unreasonable or irrational
  • Disagreement with a finding of malpractice or improper conduct

You can also submit a final appeal after your first-stage appeal, but only on the grounds of material irregularity or manifest unreasonableness about the decision of the first appeal.

To appeal, complete the Appeals Form in your candidate account.

Clerical checks

We no longer offer separate clerical checks. However, a clerical check will be carried out automatically if you submit an appeal.

This means we will verify the accuracy of your marks as part of the appeal process.

This change does not affect your right to request personal data about your marks under the UK GDPR.
