We have updated the SQE Marking and Standard Setting Policy.

As part of the annual review of this policy, certain changes have been made to the SQE1 section of the policy, by way of clarity. The updates do not change in any way the standard or content of the SQE.

These updates are effective immediately and will apply to SQE1 assessments that take place from and including January 2026.

We encourage all candidates to read the updated policy for full details. A summary of the changes is below:

• Paragraph 1.3 has been amended to add clarification as to how the standard presented to the Assessment Board may be determined.
• Paragraph 1.4 has been amended to clarify that an Angoff Panel will run in relation to an assessment for which a new Angoff standard may be required, rather than for each and every SQE1 assessment.
