Important update: use of Biometric Residence Permits as identification

Jun 25, 2025

Following a recent UK government change, Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) will no longer be an accepted form of ID for any SQE assessment (SQE1 and SQE2) or for identity verification when registering for an SQE account.

This change applies immediately.

Please note that we cannot accept digital IDs, including the eVisa which has replaced the BRPs.

Accepted forms of ID include:

  • Passport
  • Photocard driving licence
  • Other official (government issued) photo ID (e.g. national identification card)

Please ensure you refer to our full ID verification policy for a comprehensive list of accepted documents to avoid any issues on your assessment day.
