Reasonable adjustments policy updated

Jan 9, 2024

We have updated the Reasonable Adjustments policy. It will apply for assessments booked from today’s date, and will therefore first apply to the April 2024 SQE2.

We would encourage all candidates to read the policy before they book an assessment.

A non-exhaustive summary of the changes is as follows:

  • Clarification on how the policy applies to accommodations for those that are not disabled within the meaning of the Equality Act 2010, but have conditions which impact on their ability to undertake the SQE
  • The addition of wording relating to the requirement for evidence surrounding late submissions
  • More detailed wording relating to when we will make reasonable adjustments
  • Further information to assist candidates about what should be included in the reasonable adjustments request form
  • Confirmation that a specific member of the Equality & Quality team will be appointed as the candidate’s reasonable adjustment liaison (RAL) (this is the candidate’s main point of contact and reflects our existing practice) and more information on the role of the RAL
  • An update to the process or review of a reasonable adjustment plan, including who can review a decision on reasonable adjustments if the candidate requests such a review.

Information for Disability Assessors will also be updated in the next few days.
