We need participants for SQE1 Angoff panels

Jan 19, 2022

We want to continue to increase our pool of qualified solicitors to participate in SQE1 Angoff panels.

The Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) is made up of SQE1 and SQE2. SQE1 consists of single best answer multiple choice questions. Further information can be found on the Assessment Information page.

The process of attaching an Angoff score to an SQE1 question is the start of the process of ascertaining the pass mark for an individual exam.

Panel members will consider how many newly qualified solicitors would answer each question presented correctly. Full training will be provided and no advance preparation is required for each day.

We are looking for members that are newly qualified solicitors (up to two years PQE) or more experienced solicitors who can demonstrate an understanding of the standard that can be expected of the newly qualified solicitor at the start of their practice as a solicitor.

A compulsory half day of training will take place on 14 June 2022 and we would expect members to sit on at least two full days in June (Panels will take place on 14, 15, 16, 21, 22 and 23 June 2022). Members will be remunerated (including for training) and reasonable expenses provided.

Please note that in order for us to be able to offer you work, you will need to be onboarded on to our system, which includes a requirement to be registered as self-employed or have a registered company. We will provide more information as part of the onboarding process if you are selected to take part.

For more information (including details on remuneration and expenses) and if you are interested in participating, please contact the SQE1 Academic Resources Team via email: sqe1academicresources@kaplan.co.uk by Thursday 27 January 2022 with:

  • a copy of your CV
  • your SRA ID or Roll Number
  • a brief explanation on why you are familiar with the standard to be expected from a newly qualified solicitor
  • your availability for these, and the maximum number of Panels you would be willing to attend (please note that preference may be given to applicants who can attend on all dates)
  • how you found out about this opportunity.

We will contact you by the end of February if you have been selected to attend.
